Corporate Citizenry
We place important emphasis in being a socially responsible and caring company. Environmental awareness and a keen involvement in the community are some of our top priorities. We have taken specific measures to make our inspection centres environmentally-friendly. Sound barriers and vehicle exhaust extraction systems with self-purging filtration are installed at all our centres, to keep noise and air pollution to a minimum.
We also actively support public education programmes. One instance is our continuous sponsorship over the years of road safety campaigns as organised by the Traffic Police for the public.
Social Programmes
We believe in giving back to society and lending a helping hand to the less fortunate amongst us. We have in place our very own Care & Share programme in which VICOM matches dollar-for-dollar, all donations made by our employees to charitable organisations.
As part of the programme, VICOM employees actively volunteer their time and services to the less fortunate. Some of these outings include visits to elderly residents at Indus Moral Home and underprivileged children at TOUCH Children’s Services. Visits to temples and the zoo, boatrides at Clarke Quay, a pilgrimage to Kusu Island and arts & crafts sessions were also organised.
In the wake of the massive earthquake in Indonesia and the ensuing tsunami catastrophe that devastated many countries in South Asia and Africa in 2006, VICOM’s Care & Share Committee donated $2,000 to the Red Cross Fund. VICOM staff also contributed to the fund-raising exercise initiated by our parent company, ComfortDelGro Corporation Ltd, which raised a total of $65,000.
